Conquer Piles Discomfort: Effective Treatments in Hyderabad

Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, can be a source of significant discomfort and embarrassment. If you're in Hyderabad and seeking effective treatment, you've come to the right place. This guide explores various treatment options available, helping you find the best solution for your needs.

Diagnosis of Piles

Hemorrhoids can be diagnosed by a digitaI exploration done by your physician of the canal and rectum. A healthcare provider does this test. They promise that you will feel pressure but not pain. Then they will put a gloved, lubricated finger into your rectum that feels around for anything abnormal which could be caused by tumors. An anascope, a proctoscope or a sigmoidoscope may be used for an examination of the lower part of your colon and rectum to minimize an alternative cause inside the rectum.

    Piles Symptoms

Types of Piles and How Internal Piles Differ from External Piles

Piles, or hemorrhoids, are classified into two main types based on their location:

1. Internal Piles

  • These occur inside the lining of the rectum and anus.
  • They are usually painless but can cause bleeding, especially during bowel movements.
  • Often, internal piles go unnoticed unless they prolapse (bulge out of the anus).

2. External Piles

  • These develop under the skin around the anus.
  • They are typically more noticeable and may cause discomfort, pain, and itching.
  • External piles can also bleed, particularly if irritated.

Different Types of Piles Require Different Treatments?

Yes, the treatment for piles depends on the type, severity, and grade of the condition.

  • Grade 1: No prolapse is seen. These can often be managed with dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, and over-the-counter pain relievers like NSAIDs.
  • Grade 2: Prolapse is observed but retracts on its own. Non-surgical treatments such as medications and minor procedures are usually effective.
  • Grade 3: Prolapse requires manual intervention by the patient. Treatment options may include non-surgical procedures or surgery, depending on the severity.
  • Grade 4: Prolapse cannot be manually pushed back in. Surgery is often necessary for these high-grade internal piles.

External piles rarely require treatment unless they cause significant pain or discomfort. However, in severe cases, medical intervention may be needed.

Risk Factors for Developing Piles

While anyone can develop piles, certain factors increase the likelihood:

  • Age: Older adults are more prone due to weakened rectal tissues.
  • Pregnancy: Pressure on the pelvic veins during pregnancy increases the risk.
  • Obesity: Higher body weight exerts extra pressure on rectal veins.
  • Chronic Constipation or Diarrhea: Straining during bowel movements can lead to piles.
  • Family History: A genetic predisposition to hemorrhoids increases risk.
  • Low-Fiber Diet: A lack of dietary fiber can contribute to constipation and strain.
  • Prolonged Sitting on the Toilet: Spending excessive time can strain rectal veins.
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): IBS often leads to repeated bouts of constipation and diarrhea.

Piles in Pregnant Women

Piles are more common in pregnant women, particularly during the third trimester, affecting 30-40% of expectant mothers. Increased pressure on the pelvic blood vessels and pregnancy-induced constipation are common culprits.

Is it Safe to Treat Piles During Pregnancy?

Yes, it is generally safe to treat piles during pregnancy. Common approaches include:

  • Topical Treatments: Creams, ointments, or suppositories that provide temporary relief from pain, itching, and bleeding. These are considered safe because minimal amounts of the medication enter the bloodstream.
  • Laser Surgery: This minimally invasive option is precise and effective, even during pregnancy.

Can Piles Be Hereditary?

Yes, a family history of piles can increase the likelihood of developing the condition. Genes associated with hemorrhoids tend to be highly expressed in blood vessels and gastrointestinal tissues, making hereditary a contributing factor.

What Causes Piles?

The bulge and the bag that appears in the blood vessels of the rectum or anus is called piles or hemorrhoids, these cushions help in holding stool in a semi-sealed environment down through the opening until it is ready for the excretion process. You have a few veins that cause these cushions to puff up, causing it to get filled with blood like small pillows. Such times as these can make you wish you can come out of your body and do a few tumbles here and there. If so, the soluble fibers combined with some legumes are the magic foods to heal them.

Symptoms of Piles

External Piles (External Hemorrhoids)

External piles form under the skin around the anus. They are often more painful than internal hemorrhoids. Here are some common symptoms:

  • Pain or discomfort around the anus, especially when sitting
  • Swelling around the anus
  • Itching in the anal area
  • Bleeding, usually bright red blood on toilet paper or in the stool
  • A hard lump near the anus (thrombosed hemorrhoid)

Internal Piles (Internal Hemorrhoids)

Hemorrhoids are blood-filled vessels in the rectum that develop due to high pressure inside the anal ring veins causing them to swell and become replete

  1. Blood from the anus while making stool, bright-hued blood in the toilet paper or the stool
  2. Purulent-smelling fluid exudes from the anus
  3. A feeling of fullness in the rectum
  4. Patient struggles with incomplete bowel movements (fecal obstruction)- known as straining
  5. Pushing out (prolapse) of the internal hemorrhoids outside the anus which could be either painful or cause some discomfort
  6. Thrombosed hemorrhoid: If any blood vessel around the anal canal gets obstructed, it can turn into a thrombosed one. This may cause bleeding, swelling, and blood clots.
  7. Protruding hemorrhoid imprisonment: A procurator or the causative condition of procidence a hemorrhoid can get lodged outside the anus and can also lose its supply of blood which necessitates medical intervention to relocate the lost hemorrhoid.
  8. Skin tags: These are small flaps of skin that can develop after a hemorrhoid has shrunk. They are usually painless but can be irritating.

When to See a Doctor

If you experience any symptoms of piles, it's important to see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent complications. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:

  • Severe pain
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Signs of infection (fever, chills, redness, pus)
  • Inability to control bowel movements

Complications of Piles

While piles are generally not a serious medical condition, complications can arise in some cases. These include:

  • Anemia: Chronic blood loss from hemorrhoids can lead to iron deficiency anemia.
